Beth and Daniel's traditional Melbourne wedding at Abbotsford Convent was held in a contemporary and modern way. The talented team at Lavan Photography had such an honour of capturing their valuable memories.

The top priority of this cheerful couple was to have as much fun as possible on the wedding day for their guests and themselves.

The Love Story

Beth and Daniel's adorable love story started more than 10 years ago when they went to high school together in our hometown.

They got engaged on a lazy Saturday in November, just after Dan got his dream job with Cathay Pacific Airline as a Boeing 777 Pilot in Hong Kong.

In that morning they took their dog Ivy to get her Christmas photoshoot with Santa. Afterwards, they continued onto Gold Class movies as a celebration for Daniel's new job. Daniel acted a little strange at the end of the film, insisting on walking around the back of the complex to find a "Uber".

Then Beth found out the "Uber" was actually a horse and cart. They meandered through the Botanical gardens and began to near Albert Road, up from Beth's parents' house, when he turned to her with a jewellery box in hand and proposed.

The Wedding Outfits

Beth's wedding gown was from Berta Bridal - an Israeli dress designer. She tried a lot of her most recent designs. Although they were all beautiful, she kept being drawn back to to the original. The dress was purchase at Raffaele Cuica in Prahran.

Daniel had his suit from Oscar Hunt. He looked incredibly dapper with a midnight blue mohair suit with shawl collar, black patent leather shoes and his most prized possession, the Breitling Navitimer watch.

The Wedding Venue

Choosing Abbotsford Convent was one of the easiest decisions Beth made. And Daniel trusted her judgement. It was the first and only place Beth and her mom went and viewed at. And they put the deposit within an hour.

The Convent is well-known for its aesthetic qualities of the surrounding farmland and rural setting. It's so unique because of its architectural significance and beauty. But beyond that, walk through the shared spaces towards the gardens, chapels, and Rosina rooms, where you will find a sense of calmness and happiness.

It's the heart of a creative community, a precinct of art, culture and learning. The vibes are so great!

The idea of the flowers was simple, green and white. Beth wanted a lot of them. So Ivy and Eve were used for decorating the chapel and creating the masterpiece in the Rosina Room. It was simply magical.

The ceremony was held in a chapel. It was a traditional Catholic ceremony. Daniel cried when he saw Beth walking down the aisle by her father. It was indeed a special moment, to have those most important to them witness the moment they gave everything to each other.

The guests were offered with cocktails while we were doing the photoshoot with the couple, which was a great idea. Abbotsford Convent is such a beautiful place for wedding photography. It's definitely one of the icons in Melbourne. The light on the day was amazing. And the couple was incredibly easy to work with and super relaxed. They are really good looking and photogenic, which made our job so much easier.

Before entering the reception, the guests enjoyed their pre-drinks and canapes while mingled with each other in the courtyard.

The courtyard was fitted with lots of fairy lights which looked magical.

The reception was in the spacious Rosina Room. The couple did a lot of DIY stuff.

The first dance was a romantic waltz with a swing ending. The speeches were also so funny & entertaining, and everyone couldn't stop laughing. It was an absolutely fun night.

Wedding Planning

Planning the wedding was never a simple job but choosing the dress and flowers were the most straightforward tasks among them. However, planning from overseas did add a lot more stress.
