{ stephanie + kyle } - the garden chapel at daylwaters rose farm and the baths sorrento, mornington

- What did you envision your wedding being prior to planning?

I always imagined an outdoor chapel with plenty of greenery and white roses, and we were so lucky to find just that. We wanted it to be full of light and love and community.

- What was your colour palette and your style vision?

My Pinterest board was full of lush green, white and gold, with elements of wood. Elegant but warm and friendly.

- What unique elements or DIY details did you include?

* We did a lot of our own gold-foiling to help with printing costs- quotes in frames, menus, invitations, seating charts, table numbers etc.

* Many a night was spent creating our bonbonnieres- filling, stamping and labelling test tubes with the ingredients of Bangla Cha (a beautiful spice-filled tea from my husband's country of birth).

* We decorated our venue with things we collected over time- many fairy lights, candles in gorgeous gold rimmed glass boxes, gold frames with quotes and verses that we picked out, and many flowers and ivy branches from a close friends garden.

- What was your favourite moment? Your favourite crafted detail?

I’m an introvert and was dreading walking down the aisle in a lot of ways, but I absolutely loved the moment entering the chapel. Being with my Dad, seeing my husband in the distance, and feeling like everything in the world was so perfect- not just with my surroundings, but with my husband-to-be, and the love that was radiating from those around us.

- Tell us about your flowers, your gown, your favours.

Our flowers were exactly as I imagined - we were surrounded by blooming white roses and green leaves, and my bouquet (created by Effloresce Flowers) was the most perfect blend of beauty and rustic nature. My dress was a slim fit, top-to-bottom beaded Karen Willis Holmes gown with a boat neck and an open back. I’ve never felt more beautiful than when it shimmered in the sun.

- What is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be?

Cliché- but take as much of it in as you can.

- What was your favorite moment of the day

The day blended into one giant ball of love and joy for me, and it’s hard to single out just one moment- spending time in prayer with my parents just prior to leaving for the ceremony, walking down the aisle, our first kiss, my sister touching up my hair with her portable curler in the car, walking into the venue as husband and wife, the speeches by our loved ones, leaving the reception to have some quiet sunset photos on the pier with my new husband, exiting through a sea of sparklers to our car and driving away just as it started to lightly rain. All of it was magical.

- Any funny stories (or near disasters) in the lead up to or on the day?

We had planned the morning of the wedding so perfectly and everything was running exactly according to schedule. We came down the stairs ready to leave for the ceremony when we suddenly realised that the wedding car had not arrived yet. After many phone calls we located the wedding car and decided to meet it at the venue. Our lovely makeup artist offered to drive the wedding party, and my Mum drove my Dad and I to the venue, meeting the wedding car just outside the property. What could have been a stressful situation turned out to be wonderful- I loved driving to the ceremony with both of my parents in our family car. Everything felt right, and I definitely think it calmed my nerves.

The Garden Chapel at Daylwaters Rose Farm

If you are looking for a chapel wedding you can't go wrong with The Garden Chapel at Daylwaters Rose Farm. Imagine walking down the 60-meter aisle covered in vines and roses. What a dramatic and romantic entrance! The chapel is charming with a modern white interior and lots of natural light.

Afterward you can have photos around the rose farm lake, jetty, gazebos, gardens and wide-open spaces - it's a natural place with a romantic and dreamy vibe that had to be on our list of top wedding venues on the Mornington Peninsula.

The Baths Sorrento

Tropical wedding dreams can come true at The Baths Sorrento. Imagine walking with your love along a sandy white beach overlooking pristine blue waters on your wedding day. There is a jetty that can’t be missed for the photos.

The Baths Sorrento is an excellent choice for a wedding venue and you find some great deals going down between May to September.

If you want to get married with your toes in the sand and a luxurious wedding reception to follow then you might fall in love with this place. It catches the sunset and the light is brilliant in the golden hour. We will need plenty of time for photos because I could shoot here all day long if I was allowed.
